Studio

Architects who build.

We started Vaune because the best houses we knew had been spoiled by the gap between design and construction. So we closed it.

01

Keep what’s good

Original floors, plaster and joinery are repaired before anything is replaced.

02

Design for daily life

Storage, light and circulation are planned around how the household actually lives.

03

Make it last

Lime, oak, stone and steel: materials that can be repaired for another hundred years.

How we work

Five stages, one contact.

  1. Survey

Measured drawings, structure and a condition report. We learn what the house is before deciding what it becomes.

  2. Design

Plans, elevations and material boards, reviewed together in the house until every room is settled.

  3. Approvals & price

Permits and landmark submissions, then a single itemised fixed price for the build.

  4. Build

One site lead runs the work, with a weekly walk-through and a shared schedule.

  5. Aftercare

A return visit after twelve months for the adjustments old houses always ask for.
